Last semester’s TER report was released about two weeks ago. As usual, the negative comments are the ones I find most interesting.
He hates HS student particularly and been biased to them. I dont see any passion on him to teach us in Introduction To Economics and nvr try his best to help his HS student particularly in understanding the topics...Wow, I never knew that I hate HS students! I must have totally missed it when the head of department goes around every semester asking what courses we want to teach. Poor me; stuck teaching IRKHS students when at the department we don’t have enough staff to teach our own ENM/BECON students to have to hire so many part-timers.
I have heard a lot of comments & complaints from my friends saying that sir nazri is very strict lecturer towards his students. i understand that most of the students are from political science students who are compulsory to take this subject.the thing is that IRKHS students are not fammiliar with ecnomical terms, calculations, etc unless they have basic knowledge about economics.so, the students need more time to understand this subject. this does not mean that the students have to take this subject TWICE or more.i have take this subject twice. and my carry mark is not that bad. but finally, i failed subject. i also heard that the dean of dept of Political Science have met him a few times and asked him why he failed many of their students and they cant graduate because of his subject. i thought the next time i’ll take this subject,he would change the way he teaches the class. but,no... he still teaching the class the same way.. please keep in mind sir nazri, we are only students of IRKHS. most of our way of studies is by books, theories,etc...we are not really familiarize with all economical terms, calculations...please..i think the way u teaches, give examples to us is just like we are from ENMS students..tq..This is particularly funny, as I have met neither the dean of IRKHS nor the head of the political science department. Nobody from IRKHS has ever even contacted me. Students joining my Intro to Econs class always complain that they have zero background in economics and are weak in mathematics. But seriously, the subject is called Introduction to Economics and the most complicated maths they have to do in the course is calculate percentage change.
Another common complaint is that economics is not their major and they only take Intro to Econs because they have to. So what? Undergraduates everywhere are required to take all kinds of courses outside their majoring field they don’t want to take.
Yes the same situation happened to us. One of my friends, her student wrote "EVIL" in her survey form.

Hmm...what can I say to that? If you know that you don't have the basic knowledge in economics, then what do you do? Blame the lecturer?
Or you can wake up early in the morning before class, read the chapter that is going to be thought that day, so that you have some basic idea about what the lecturer is going to say in the class?
Itulah aku selalu cakap kat student. Entahla depa ni paham tak apa intention. Uni aku ni lain sikit budaya dia dan mentaliti student.
hahahaha..i was a biz student and i still suck at econs..but you are right, it is just a matter of sticking out with the courses, even those unfamiliar to you and you may still get a good result out of it..no such thing that you are this course student or that course student so you are unable to get a handle on this unfamiliar thing that is being taught..you just have to understand that you are the student and have to do everything you can to get "IT" lah..o/wise blame yourself if you get the dreaded F..haha
ReplyDeleteIncidentally, some of my most rewarding experiences as a student were taking classes with lecturers others considered “killer” lecturers.
ReplyDeletekau buat tak tau je bro
ReplyDeletejus b patient..i heard that,starting from sem 1,09/10 u'll no longer teaching KIRKHS students,rite?it might b or absolutely a gud news 4 u..then,they'll miss the way u teach n u may miss these kind of students..or not at all..watever it is..this is life..so,jus do watever u want..n as long as its gud 4 u n everyone..'cos u know wat is gud 4 u n others..n im sure,they also will realize who is rite n who is wrong..ppl always tell u wat 2 do.but,wat rite 4 them,may not rite 4 u..but life is not rehearsal..it's so real ting..so,be urself in watever u do..
ReplyDeletemay Allah bless u..--bes wishes--
Yes, since we are seriously short of staff at the department, I suppose it is only natural that teaching assignment gives priority to internal clients; so the boss asked me recently if I would be willing to teach a different course next semester (if I’m still around, that is). Very likely Intro to Econs will be passed to part-timers.
ReplyDeleteA question I’ve been asking for quite some time now (obviously to the wrong people) is why IRKHS or the PoliSci department doesn’t offer the subject themselves? They already have a course code assigned.
u'll further study? hem, i'm also thinking the same..y they dont offer the subject under its own kuliyyah?i've asking one of the staff at poli deprtmnt..he also give me the same reason, dont have enough staff to teach the subject..(and now, they have)..thats the problem facing by almost all kuliyyah in iium.wat to do..and we'll suffer on it..
